Trend Setting Or Trend Watching?

The Footprint of the Disaster, What is Being Built?

Trend Setting Or Trend Watching?- By Aharon Moshe Sanders, 10/28/10 3:30PM-EST, NJ.. partly inspired by recent media events, and Facebook posting such as the one mentioned and linked below: (Published with revised and extended remarks in it’s original un-edited form by:

Robert Belgrad said:.”I began to notice the proliferation of Internet ‘trolls’ who seemed to have no other function than to spread disinformation about Israel and the Holocaust, or simply to make libelous comments about Jews in general.”…

Please be warned that if you do go to this link I am warning you that anti-semitic and yes even foul language gets invoked I am assuming to drill home his point. Yes, Okay I did start  writing my response, and did start writing this piece before reading this man’s entire very long piece.

So do not forget to read his own disclaimer before clicking on the link that I have provided as a courtesy to the person who’s post on Facebook has inspired me to hammer out so manny words onto my website via my laptop:

WARNING: What follows is pure hatred, undiluted evil. If you have a weak constitution, best not to read further… and even those with steel in their gizzards are likely to be left somewhat queasy from the aggregate effect of the following commentary.

Robert Belgrad via Facebook

Okay so much for proper citation for even a brief quote, and I do hope and pray that I have not somehow unwittingly fallen into some sort of a trap from a different sort of purveyor of propaganda. Now back to my own thoughts, ideas, and issues, with a strong hope of remembering to return to these ideas at least to solidly know if this fellow is with us (us) or if he is against us and therefore would be with them. [ I keep trying to avoid cliche or using popular music from the rock repertoire, but after all we're only ordinary men ]

….The concern is clear with high tech communications, comes a more efficient means of spreading mis-information. We are all susceptible to these kinds of communications, even from within in our own ranks.

Even when our own pro-Zionistic or Pro-Jewish publications draw our attention to an issue, and the explanations of the trends might become difficult to grasp. Those who choose to perpetuate misinformation, are able to easily manipulate the facts to create a “more” simple explanation, yet it veers far from the truth, and often will put Israel, or Jews in a bad light.

I think even normally less opinionated or apolitical Jews can not help but see the growing bias against themselves and the things they believe in and hold dear to themselves. I guess the answer is that everyone who see’s these wrongs, needs to point them out so that these broad based accusations about Israel and the Jewish people can no longer be so simply stated in the media without the proper level of outrage being expressed by we the Jewish people in the US, and abroad, and in the one true homeland of the Jewish People, the Holy Land of Eretz Yisrael.

I myself am no exception to the new rules of instantaneous media. The problem is that the simplistic explanations are always the 1st to get out and into the streets. One needs to consider the  source and I am now staring to see how comprehensive this problem has become. The vast largeness of the world of the internet has effectively thrown us all together in this great melting pot of what may need even some updated term, but has always in the past been referred to as propaganda.

Whatever you need to say, needs to get said quickly, and before the fold. The people who designed Twitter and Facebook used a lot of wisdom when they limited their status’ to 140 or 420 characters. Surfing the internet as the name implies is not a method generally conducive to obtaining accurate and un-biased information.

Of course not! Why, you may ask?

Simple the whole truth and nothing but the truth, takes a whole lot of time to explain, and the entire concept is never so easily digested. Yet we are a culture that voraciously feeds on 30 second sound bites.

We have been programmed, yes by TV at a tender young age, to just focus o something for lets say maybe bo more than 15 minutes tops! How is that, I imagine the long un lubricated gears in the minds of some of my readers, starting to whir and wiz. Simple, because once there is a certain amount of tension, or complexity builds up…what happens?  You got it, it’s cut to a commercial.

Yes indeed the fast paced world of  ”Who says you can’t have it all?” was indeed brought to you by Michelob Light,  and of course they tell us yes you can have it all. The TV comercial slogans of the 80′s may have been replaced with new ones, but what about the concepts which somehow have remained implanted in our brains, yes they still remain.

So should anyone be they a democrat or a republican be at all surprised, when we learn that the entire economic collapse of the US, that started with a huge 1.3 Trillion Dollar Tax cut- the largest ever  in June of 2001 (under the watch of GW Bush)- effectively emptying out the coffers of the federal reserve board-then of course exacerbated by the horrible attack on the World Trade Center ($$$read…huge expense..big cost$$$) then add in the cost of on-going war, yes war is no longer profitable as some people may have believed even going back to the last decade or so, has not been solved by a President by his second year in office.

[

Notice that I did not even touch on the hugh bailouts, which all the latest pro-republican double talk will conveniently try to distance itself. They rely on everyone's collective anger to soothe over the actual memory that we now only dimly retain that both houses had to support these bailout bills because the US could not handle people running out into the streets and pulling their money out of banks and stuffing it into their mattresses.

Indeed we just can handle the sensory overload. There is too much solid information out there that really sound like facts. Why not embrace an overly simplistic concept. Instead of reasoning out ideas along the lines of:

Hey wasn't it the de-regulation of the banking industry that allowed these sub-prime mortgage loans to go through. Sure, why not offer these new bank products, like interest only loans for three years on houses, under-the deregulation of the government backed national mortgage association (GNMA)... (BTW, don't bother researching if this is the actual straw the broke the economy's back on Google or anything...I'm trying to make my emotional appeal here)...

Uh oh, I may have just noticed a few of my more intelligent readers have already started to ask, hey is the guy one of us, or what?

Unfortunately it seems that it is undeniably the law of the land here in the US that if you throw enough money at the problem it will just go away. Yes, but what if entire problem solving system just stops working?

A few days ago a saw an article in the Newspaper about some person who was facing foreclosure and could not pay off his mortgage. He decided to try to get permission from the bank to allow him to sell it short, and only getting the buyer to pay $200,000 instead of the actual loan which may have been $208,000. The guy figured (it may have been woman) he would have more time to move out, and it would be less damaging to his credit than a foreclosure. [Good thinking right?]

Well I guess penny-wise and pound foolish is really not an adequate expression to describe entire be it political, commercial, or banking systems, the answer from the bank was. You guessed it no. Was it because the bank could make more money by foreclosing? No, not according to the newspaper article. As matter of fact with all the associated foreclosure costs, and realistic projection I believe the bank had projected that instead of only losing $8,000 (not the exact number) that they would lock in a loss of more than $13,500. Does it make sense (intentional pun only after typing it) of course not.

What makes sense these days. Peoples lives on an individual level have either become greatly simplified or endlessly complex. That voice of outrage from days gone by no longer seems to exist. You could talk about the hypocrisy or the ultimate waste, or the oppression of ideals. the dictatorship of the dosier, the almighty power of the dollar, the endless governmental corruption, the new Plutocracy of the United States of America.

The new answer? Same as the old answer. Of course in theory the problem could be fixed with  a certain austerity plan. Being careful with money, not spending so much. Yet these ideas are never popular. Can someone really rally support by saying we are going to cut out this excess spending, and that excess spending. We are going to cut your benefits, and increase your taxes. No of course not.

If we can no longer take the change you can believe in to the bank. We likewise no longer have the stomach for what is now simply called tax and spend. Liberal is the only new dirty word that neither has four letters has nor any significant meaning, other than, oh it looks like you simply do not agree with my opinion as a staunch conservative.

So there you have it. This piece has masterfully gone from something that was looking to be nice an zionistic, or anti-defamation piece to a peice which is targeting the latest new and improved political party of those who simply have to agree to be anti-Obama and anti-democrat. You see it is easier to be anti-something than to actually be in favor of something, because it’s easier to get people outraged, as in throw the bums out of office as opposed to hmmm. how are we going to solve this problem in a way we can all agree on.

With that I must fire my last bullet, because even my own attention span on this overly long, typed as I think and go treatise on, concepts which anger me with their over-simplistic bent:

This group of people could not come in with any kind of unifying concept other than being angry that they lost the Presidential election. So what they needed was something unique, something which drew upon people’s sentiments, and actions that our good old framers of the US Constitution did when they were outraged at such a horrible imposition of taxation without representation:

So then was born, the Tea Party.

This party had the plan to solve everyone’s problem. Of course it must be read for effect in my favorite radio announcer’s voice, but I need to take a break now, so I will publish this as a draft, or better yet privately so I can show it to someone who might buy it. I  can then keep my ego low, and not get all my orthodox conservatives all so angry, and maybe even make a few bucks.

Stephen C. Sanders- 1st draft October 28, 2010 5:08 PM

PS: The big lie it seems always works because its amazing results are always based on sheer repetition. No matter how outlandish the assertion might be, if it gets repeated often enough, and works it’s way into everyday conversation and usage, eventually and sadly, it will be believed.

Sophistication or worldliness is not what it once was. The people who opinions we once valued have faded into irrelevance. People use to enjoy a lively political debate, because you could from someone by talking things over, arguing with someone, possibly swaying someone or get them to consider an alternate point of view, yes it took an amazing amount of patience, but sometimes you would change someone’s beliefs.

I do not know if it is just the crowd that I currently run with, or perhaps the new world order has truly taken over, but it just seems like nobody (and I do mean nobody) ever looks at the big picture anymore. Where can you find anyone these days who has their own original thoughts and ideas? Where are the rugged individualists who have a sense of exactly what the right thing to do is, and then just go out there and do it?

Since when has American values become the ultimate oxymoron. Where are the clever erudite people explaining what the latest paradigm is, and how it functions. Why does it seem that public opinion, and the man in the street is so out of touch with these forces which are quietly eroding every single thing of value.

Do we the enlightened need to become the “Gloom and Doomists”? How long can the greatest majority of people continue to believe that things are destined to improve when the current course and the political polls, and the people who are the most persistent voices have the worst ideas.

It is as if the whole wide world, has embraced this single concept. This single concept is not only wrong, but it is entirely so wrong that whatever chance there may have been for things to be improved in a natural and gradual way, will now almsot certainly be derailed as soon as the new wave of people come in with there singular concept.

The single concept of course is doomed to fail. The platform of less government, lower taxes, and less regulation, is exactly what got us where we are today. The US is becoming a bad credit risk, saddled with a 50% of it’s income just to pay off it’s debt, it cannot pull itself out of debt by just cutting down its income even more.

The US is losing it’s grasp even on the world-wide global power scheme. Without having the financial resources we will become beholden to countries which were once viewed as third world nations?

All because of that one big lie. The lie that states that you give the people what they want, in this case simply lower taxes, and then the economy will grow stronger. If the problem was just left alone to it’s own devices, meaning no bank bailouts, no loaning millions or billions to a failing US auto industry, no continually throwing money at problems.

Simply put people keep focusing on the money being such a huge issue, unfortunately it is the intelligence behind the manipulation of the money, or the lack of it which has been causing such large scale problems.

Editors Note: This article was written yesterday, in one draft, it could be viewed as a rant from the point of view as the author brings up the topic on his mind without necessarily explaining all the relevant theories, ideas or possible circumstances. It is written with a certain perspective in mind which maybe holds up the possibility of hope and maybe it does not. It starts out as a topic inspired by a particular comment on Facebook, where people do often freely express their personal ideas and opinions.

If the publishers of this site, and similar sights are familiar enough with this author’s style and intent to allow this particular author a relatively free hand to write on topics which he feels are relevant to today. The reader base of this site may be more diverse than most people realize so therefore we simply assert that the opinions expressed by the author in the article above, particularly in light of the political slant of the entire article, is clearly not demonstrative of  any sort of mainstream, or any particular right leaning or left leaning political faction, or any other known political party. If anything we feel the author is striving to explain some fundamental differences that exist in the US political system, as a reaction to what he may have heard to be constant drone of certain known media hosts, and their popularity with particular groups of people.

The author has also provided the following comment in response to our inquiry and request if he would consider revising or extending his remarks, or otherwise condense encapsulate, or highlight his main idea:

I am not even sure myself why I had to write this piece, at this time for this particular anticipated target audience. However I do feel the piece was properly inspired, and on some level remained true to it’s intent to pull the mask of the baseless rhetoric which is currently saturating the radio waves, and the popular mini-debates raging throughout the popular and often thought provoking, man-in-the-street, off the cuff responses that people provide when challenged with issues which they feel very strongly about.

Emotionally driven belief’s, weather or not they are founded on a fundamentally sound or seemingly intelligent conceptual fondation, are powerful forces which are easily manipulated by those who actually carefully craft their “take home message” or call to action, which is inherent in every phrase of their pronouncements.

Unfortunately these pronouncements, become rigidly applied to all theoretically related issues and matters. So much so that you can understand a given person’s opinion on just about any single political topic, before they have even oponed their mouths. The resulting situation, that relates to the mindset of what looks and sounds more like an angry mob then an informed, educated and knowledgeable public.

So as I was hammering these words by banging on the keys of my laptop, live and online (stopping only to fix the obvious spelling or typographical errors) I was not so concerned about driving home each and every point of this obviously (or subtly) persuasive piece (as it relates to the upcoming November election in the US).

However what I had hit upon in my mind, was that certain radio talk show hosts, have been become the modern day dictators of political thought. We see rampant anti-Semitism alive and well throughout the world today, not because of any particular singular voice of hatred.

Rather it seems to be a carefully cultivated doctrine, that has become inculcated, instilled, implanted in the minds of the masses who are actually highly susceptible to the effects of the constantly repeated messages of the media.

Under normal circumstances a certain background radiation or a virulent way of thinking by specific groups of people who are either educated or not, is typically not a cause for concern.

However when anti-semitic thought is viewed as strongly influencing political policy, or diplomatic relations with important allies in the free world and key countries like Israel in their mutual goal to protect Israel, the US and the world from acts of war, or emerging nations which have apparently developed nuclear capabilities, the entire equation becomes changed.

Therefore baseless hatred against a people must not be tolerated in any form, because the stakes have become so high.

Therefore if a known radio talk show host, or an organization as diverse as the United Nations, are allowed free reign to utilize what is best known a propaganda techniques to poison the susceptible  minds of those who readily embace a scapegoat, be it a faction (liberal) or people (Jews) or nation (Israel) to blame for all their problems, then the resultant outcome is surely a recipe for disaster as a disenfranchised public, takes these hate messages to the extremes.

If there ever was a nation that was so universally hated by other nations on par with Israel, it would certainly have to be The United States of America. If as we go to the polls and either do the simple thing (which might be throw the bums out, the take home message of our famed radio pundit) or will we take the time to really look into what each individual stands for and vote according to a real set of values and belief’s not one simply imported from someone else’s play book.

Terrorism is out there. Nations such as Iran are rapidly developing military strength (via nuclear weaponry) along with the political alliances to create a scenario ripe for extremely dangerous militaristic adventures. Nations which have been hostile towards the nation of Israel since it’s birth, have great financial resources in a time of global economic decline.

Perhaps in addition we should resolve to keep a more careful eye on what other people keep mimicking from the people who create and develop these specific ideologies.

When you understand that self interest and the preservation of great wealth normally at the top of the economic heap is the specific agenda of  politicians who promise tax-cuts, and less government, and deregulation of industry, as planks in their platform with the promise to quickly turn around a problem which has been developing for decades. , Notable indicators such a 1.3 Trillion dollar tax cut in June of  2001, and the rise to power of the oil rich nations so much that the horrible murderous maniacal  and evil act that we now simply call 9/11 had disastrous economic, and political consequences which are still rippling throughout the world.

The once great nation of the US, has definitely taken a peg down in this last decade. It is up to our newly elected leaders on both the national and local levels, to step up their game. They must no longer simply pander to our pockets, and try to buy our votes with ill conceived tax cuts. They need to be part of our government and take us out of the stone age technologies that create such a strong dependence on the oil producing nations.

If we continually place our hard earned dollars into the pockets of the greatest enemies of the entire free world, then we will simply continue to finance our own destruction as a peace loving country based on free enterprise, American ingenuity, and hard work to get ahead, and enjoy the freedom to live in the manner which we choose, that has always been a cornerstone of the American way.

If we do not change our course now, the day where we can no longer pull ourselves out this endless free fall may come sooner then you think!
